Marvel’s seven part mini series kicked off this week with a two-hour special featuring the very lovely Hayley Atwell reprising her role from the Captain America movies. This first show had to take a few minutes to set up the background. It is 1946 and this follows the exploits of Agent Carter after the “demise” of Captain America.
Ms. Carter finds herself as an independent and well-trained woman living in the male dominated 1940s. The show spends a fair amount of time immersing us in the era albeit with a slight Marvel Universe twist. Often times these attempts blur the lines between decades, probably due to the fact that few people remain alive that were adults in WWII to give advice. Those that are probably blur the lines a little due to memory issues.
None the less this show has done a nice job on the setting and I must say the era automobiles alone are worth the time to watch. Hayley Atwell pulls off 1946 like a boss. She is not a skinny little French model and she just rocks the screen every time she is on it with the femininity of the era and the confidence of a modern woman. Delicious.
Howard Stark is a big part of the opener and his role is reprised by Dominic Cooper from Cap as well.
I am very much looking forward to watching the remaining six episodes and continuing the second season of Marvel’s Agents of Shield.
